On the basic knowledge, advantages and disadvantages of tube amplifier

Amplifier refers to the tube power amplifier, the role of the power amplifier is to amplify the weak signal from the sound source or pre-amplifier, to promote the speaker to play sound. In a good sound system, the role of the power amplifier is indispensable. Due to the consideration of power, impedance, distortion, dynamics, and different use ranges and control adjustment functions, different power amplifiers have different internal signal processing, circuit design, and production processes.

As far as audio equipment is concerned, the amplifier is the earliest audio product that appeared in the tube era, and so far the amplifier has not lost its glorious status in audio equipment. Although after the transistor was produced, due to its "small size and low power consumption", it had a great impact on the tube, but due to the improvement of electro-acoustic technology, it was found that the tube amplifier could produce a tone that the transistor could not match, so later the tube In the audio field, many fans have re-exploited its advantages.

The advantage of the amplifier is that the harmonic energy used by it is in order of the second harmonic, third harmonic, and fourth harmonic from strong to weak until it finally disappears. This arrangement of harmonic energy enhances people's sense of hearing, increases the sound quality level, and has rich overtones, making the sound more popular. The sound is sweet and soft, transparent and natural, especially the dynamic range is large, the linearity is good, and it is not easily replaced by other devices. Even if the amplifier of the amplifier is overloaded, the waveform of the amplifier's tube is relatively gentle, so it will not cause too much sound deterioration. Therefore, the biggest advantage of the amplifier is that its tone is basically warmer and softer, especially its mid-band tone.

The disadvantage is that the internal resistance of the tube of the tube amplifier is large, that is, the damping coefficient of the tube amplifier is relatively low, which will result in insufficient control of the speaker. In addition, the price is high, the volume is large, and the power consumption is high. The tube amplifier requires a high-voltage power supply, low efficiency, large heat, poor shock resistance, large size, high cost, slow transient response, weak upper and lower frequencies. Short life expectancy is its fatal weakness.

Amplifiers, like any other type of audio equipment, have advantages and disadvantages, and they can be selected according to the occasion and use.
